The best way (on the Internet and off) to get sales is by word of mouth. What does word of mouth mean? It means that people who have bought and read your product refer it to other people and those people buy your product.
Just like classified ads online these are a way to post a short ad that is meant to get a response and make the reader go to your site or email you.
Even if you are skeptical of offline strategies, my advice is to try at least a few of them. They may not all be for you, but you may be surprised by the results. Before I tell you about the offline techniques there are a couple of rules to remember. You will find these rules are very similar to the online rules you have already read about.
